Children and Youth

When you hear the words Christian Education, do you immediately picture children sitting down in a Sunday school class?  Sunday school is definitely an important part of our ministries, but we hope you will discover that Christian Education means so much more.  At First Church, we believe that Christian Education happens when we…

Learn the Bible

Accept God’s Grace

Grow in Christian Faith

Become Part of a Christian Community

Answer God’s Call to Christian Living

These are the goals of our children’s and youth ministry programs.  We offer a safe place, staffed by loving church members, for children and youth to make friends and grow through God’s love.

Children aged newborn-4 years old are welcome for Sunday school and child care in our nurseries.  Nursery care is available during Sunday school and worship times, and on Wednesday nights.  Our children’s rotational Sunday school, Jubilee City, is a place for all K-5 kids, where Bible stories come to life through multiple-learning style lessons.

Our program on Wednesday nights includes Wesley Kids Choir, games, crafts and learning Christian character by comparing interesting Bible characters to our lives!

Youth in grades 6-12 engage in lively discussions in Sunday school classes.  On Wednesday nights, youth can join their peers for discussion, games and Bible study and prayer.  The youth group also completes service projects and goes on retreats and trips throughout the year.

There is a place for you and your family here at First Church. Find out more about our Christian Education program by contacting Shauna Chambers at schambers@firstunitedmethodist.com
